Jorge: Hi everybody! I’m proud to say that I’m here with Sebastian from Puerto la Boca. One of my favorite restaurants in Little Italy, right here on India Street. It’s an Argentinean restaurant steakhouse they have delicious food, delicious empanadas, all kinds of things. We’re gonna get into that a little bit here with Sebastian. If you have not been here I highly recommend it, please come check out Puerto la Boca in Little Italy.

Jorge: Tell us a little bit about the history of Puerto la Boca please?

Sebastian: First of all, thank you guys for coming, we appreciate that you’re here. Actually was one of the owners’ ideas to open an Argentinian restaurant in Little Italy, because of the Italian influence, of the connection with all the Italians that are in Argentina and that was back in 2004, so we’ve been here for 15 years now.

Jorge: 15 years ago Little Italy was probably a lot different, I mean I don’t think I was here 15 years ago, but maybe 10 years ago and even then so many things have changed. How was Little Italy different back then?

Sebastian: It was much smaller actually, just a few restaurants on India St and no more than that.

Jorge: Why do you think you guys have been able to thrive for so many years here in Little Italy, What is it about Puerto la Boca?

Sebastian: First of all, of course the food, I think the quality of the food, the ambience, the friendly people, customer service, we love customers that’s why.

Jorge: I always see the same people. I’ve been coming here for 8 or 9 years and it seems like the same people work here. You guys are like a family: Jordi at the bar, Roberta, you, everybody that’s here, I always see you guys every time I come here so it’s a very welcoming place. What is the favorite appetizer, the most popular appetizer for your customers here?

Sebastian: That’s the empanadas, it’s the most popular Argentinian appetizer also in Argentina as well.

Jorge: All right here we have the empanadas beautiful, we got the beef empanadas here and then we also have your favorite, the spinach and cheese for the vegetarian people. I can definitely vouch for those empanadas they’re delicious, the beef is my favorite. What is the most popular main dish here?

Sebastian: The skirt steak, the Entraña Steak, by far I would say is the most popular.

Jorge: One of my favorites probably my favorite dish in San Diego. This is the Entraña for two.

Sebastian: You can get a one person as well which is half of the portion.

Jorge: You have got to get this one that goes all the way around with some french fries in it. It’s a little bit crispy on the outside but super juicy on the inside.

Sebastian: and it goes really good with Chimichurri on it too

Jorge: Sebastian what is the most popular drink here at Puerto la Boca?

Sebastian: Even though we have a full bar I would say that the most popular drink is the Malbec.

Jorge: So you guys have a full selection of wine and most of your wines are from Argentina?

Sebastian: All of them are from Argentina

Jorge: Wow that’s awesome and this is the favorite Malbec, so I heard in Argentina they have become really good at Malbec grapes.

Sebastian: Yes

Jorge: Make sure you come to Puerto la Boca in Little Italy, it’s one of the most traditional Argentinian restaurants in San Diego and it’s a great place with great atmosphere. Come support Sebastian and Roberta and everybody else here they’re great people. I hope to see you here soon and thanks again Sebastian I appreciate it.
